Since June 2018, the Institute of Rural Management (IRM) has successfully operated five SMART Schools on Band Road, Lahore, in collaboration with Century Board & Paper Mills, Lahore. This initiative aims to extend educational opportunities to underprivileged children, particularly those engaged in waste paper collection in and around the city of Lahore.
To enhance the program’s impact, IRM plans to enter an expansion phase to increase its outreach and beneficiary count. A significant focus will be on implementing teacher training and professional development programs to strengthen the capacity of educators, enabling them to deliver effective multi-grade instruction.
Through its efforts, the initiative has successfully enrolled 162 children involved in waste paper collection, integrating them into the primary education network. This collaboration exemplifies a commitment to transitioning marginalized children into mainstream education, thereby contributing to their holistic development and future prospects.
