Promote Self-Employment for Return Migrants and Disadvantaged Groups
The TVET Sector Support Programme (SSP) co funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements the Programme together with British Council in close cooperation with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and other public and private sector organizations in Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. The programme’s objective is to support the development of Pakistan’s TVET sector, focusing on training for men and women in professions with a high demand, especially in digital and green skills. The Institute of Rural Management (IRM) has signed a project with the TVET-SSP to facilitate the reintegration of return migrants and vulnerable groups into Pakistan’s formal labor market. Under the project titled “Facilitating Self-Employment of Return Migrants and Disadvantaged Groups,” IRM will equip participants with entrepreneurship skills, post-training support, and linkages to financial resources. The initiative focuses on returnees from Germany and other countries, alongside disadvantaged local communities, with a special emphasis on empowering women. The project combines skills training with counselling, job placement, and sustained mentorship to enable participants to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the local economy.
